L’assurance qualité des enceintes de bâtiment est un cours de huit heures destinées aux professionnels intéressés par les inspections sur le terrain et la qualité des applications, y compris les fabricants de matériaux, les entrepreneurs généraux, les observateurs en assurance qualité et les inspecteurs sur le terrain. Ce cours couvre les aspects divers et difficiles de la toiture, de l’imperméabilisation et des murs extérieurs rencontrés sur le chantier.

Le cours a été un auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs et gestionnaires d’installations. Environ 25 participants étaient présents.

The chapter presented the Building Enclosure Quality Assurance course over 2 half-days on April 26 & 27, 2023. The instructors were:

The Building Enclosure Quality Assurance is an eight-hour course for professionals interested in field inspections and quality of applications, including material manufacturers, general contractors, quality assurance observers, and field inspectors. This course covers the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls encountered in the field.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and facility managers. Approximately 25 attendees where present.

Le chapitre a présenté le cours sur la technologie des toits et les sciences II sur 4 demi-journées, le 15, 16, 22 & 23, février 2023. Les instructeurs étaient :

  • Burt Carver, RRC, RRO – Owner, Apex Building Sciences Inc.
  • Stephanie Robinson, P.Eng – Director of Building Sciences, Eastern Canada for WSP Canada Inc.

Le cours sur la technologie des toits et les sciences II est le deuxième d’une série en deux parties couvrantes, en détail, les aspects de la technologie et de la science de la toiture. Les points saillants du programme comprennent: les principes fondamentaux de la monocouche, les concepts de base et la terminologie de la toiture métallique, les codes du bâtiment et la compréhension de base de l’interaction du vent sur la toiture.

Le cours a été un succès auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs et d’autres professionnels de l’industrie.

The chapter presented the Roof Technology and Science II course over 4 half-days on February 15, 16, 22 & 23, 2023. The instructors were:

Roof Technology and Science II is the second course of a two-part series covering, in detail, aspects of the technology and science of roofing. Highlights of the program includes: fundamentals of single-ply, basic concepts and terminology of metal roofing, building codes and basic understanding of wind interaction upon roofing.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers, and other industry professionals.

Le chapitre a présenté le cours sur la technologie des toits et les sciences I sur 4 demi-journées, le 9, 10, 16 & 17 novembre 2022. Les instructeurs étaient :

Cela a été présenté sur des sessions de 4 demi-journées et est la première composante d’une série en deux-parties couvrant en détail, les aspects de la technologie et de la science de la toiture. Le cours a couvert l’histoire et l’évolution de la toiture jusqu’aux applications courantes actuelles. Le cours comprenait des informations terminologiques et techniques concernant les terrasses et les structures de toit, l’isolation du toit, les membranes de bitume modifié, les membranes multicouche et les solins métalliques,.Une compréhension de la théorie du transfert de chaleur, de l’humidité, de la conception thermique et du calcul des facteurs U a également été présentée.

The chapter presented the Roof Technology and Science I course over 4 half-days on November 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th 2022. The instructors were:

This was presented over 4-half day sessions and is the first component of a two-part series covering, in detail, aspects of the technology and science of roofing. The course covered the history and evolution of roofing up to present-day common applications. The course featured terminology and technical information regarding roof decks and structures, roof insulation, bitumen membranes, built-up and modified-bitumen membranes, and flashing systems. An understanding of heat transfer theory, moisture, thermal design, and the calculation of U-factors was also be presented.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and facility managers.

Cours de conseil professionnels en bâtiment / Professional Building Consulting Course

Ce cours est une extension de 16 heures du manuel de pratique IIBEC. Il a donné un aperçu des rôles de consultant qui sont uniques à l’industrie de la toiture, des murs extérieurs et de l’imperméabilisation.

The chapter presented the Professional Building Consulting course over 4 half-days on September 21st, 22nd, 28th & 29th 2022. The instructors were:

  • Stephanie Robinson, P.Eng – Director of Building Sciences, Eastern Canada for WSP Canada Inc.
  • Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd

This course is a 16-hour course extension of the IIBEC Manual of Practice. It provided an overview of consultant roles that are unique to the roofing, exterior walls, and waterproofing industry. 

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and facility managers.

Cours d’Imperméabilisation / Waterproofing Course

Le chapitre a présenté le cours d’Imperméabilisation sur 4 demi-journées, le 19, 20, 26 & 27 janvier 2022. Les instructeurs étaient :

  • Paul Buccellato, F-IIBEC, RWC, REWC, FASTM, AIA – Partner at Henshell & Buccellato, Consulting Architects.

Ce cours s’est concentré sur les systèmes de dalles à terrasses, l’imperméabilisation appliquée en surface et l’imperméabilisation en dessous du niveau du sol. Le cours a commencé par un examen des différences entre les membranes de toitures, hydrofuges et d’imperméabilisation. Le contenu du cours est idéal pour ceux qui aspirent à devenir des consultants en imperméabilisation enregistrés (RWC).

Le cours a été un autre grand succès auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs, de représentants de fabricants et d’entrepreneurs.

The chapter presented the Waterproofing course over 4 half-days on January 19th, 20th, 26th & 27th 2022. The instructors were:

This course focused on split-slab plaza deck systems, surface-applied waterproofing, and below-grade waterproofing. The course started with a review of differences among roofing, dampproofing, and waterproofing. The course content is great for those who are aspiring to become Registered Waterproofing Consultants (RWC).

The course was another great success with an audience of consultant/engineers, manufacturer representatives, and contractors.
