Le Chapitre Quebec Ontario de l’IIBEC a eu un premier événement sociale très réussi !
L’activité sociale de Noël a eu lieu à la Brasserie Mill Street à Ottawa.
Nous avons également célébré le 40e anniversaire de l’IIBEC.
Nous avons passé une bonne soirée remplie de bonne nourriture, de boissons et de bonnes conversations.

Nous tenons à remercier tout le monde d’être venus, les commanditaires pour vos généreuses contributions et le personnel de Mill Street pour avoir été très courtois et accommodant.

The IIBEC Quebec Ontario Chapter had a very successful first social event!
The Christmas social was held at the Mill Street Brewery in Ottawa.
We also celebrated IIBEC’s 40th anniversary.
We had a great night full of good food, drinks and great conversations.

We would like to thank everyone for coming, the sponsors for your generous contributions and the Mill Street staff for being very courteous and accommodating.

Cours sur les toitures métalliques / Metal Roofing Course

Le chapitre a présenté le cours sur les toitures métalliques sur 4 demi-journées, le 13, 14, 15 & 16 novembre, 2023. Les instructeurs étaient :

  • Stephanie Robinson, P.Eng – Director of Building Sciences, Eastern Canada for WSP Canada Inc.
  • Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd.
  • Stephen Teal, Business Development – Flynn Canada Ltd.
  • Shawn Irani, B.A.T., C.E.T., RRO – Project Manager at TSS Building Science Inc.

Le métal a des propriétés uniques qui le séparent des autres choix de toit. Depuis plus de trois millénaires, la toiture en métal est un élément de conception durable et esthétiquement attrayant utiliser pour les bâtiments importants. L’introduction des toitures en tôle ondulée à la fin du 19e siècle est devenue une option de toiture économique et résistante au feu. Les toitures métalliques continuent d’évoluer avec les progrès technologiques dans les alliages, les revêtements et l’utilisation de panneaux de toit à couture debout « flottants ». Le contenu du cours vise à fournir aux participants une compréhension complète de la toiture en métal.

Le cours a été un auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs et autres professionnels de l’industrie. Environ 22 participants étaient présents.

The chapter presented the Metal Roofing course over 4 half-days on November 13, 14, 15 & 16, 2023. The instructors were:

  • Stephanie Robinson, P.Eng – Director of Building Sciences, Eastern Canada for WSP Canada Inc.
  • Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd.
  • Stephen Teal, Business Development – Flynn Canada Ltd.
  • Shawn Irani, B.A.T., C.E.T., RRO – Project Manager at TSS Building Science Inc.

Metal has unique properties that separate it from other roof choices. For over three millennia, metal roofing has been a durable, aesthetically appealing design element utilized for significant buildings. The introduction of corrugated metal roofing in the late 19th century became a welcome economical, fire-resistant roofing option. Metal roofing continues to evolve with technological advances in alloys, coatings, and the use of “floating” standing-seam roof panels. Course content is intended to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of metal roofing.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and other industry professionals. Approximately 22 attendees where present.

 Le chapitre a organisé un petit-déjeuner-séminaire en personne sur: « Construire de meilleurs assemblages muraux – présenté par SOPREMA ». Le séminaire a eu lieu au Centre de conférences et d’événements d’Ottawa, le mardi 20 juin 2023 – 09h00-10h30 EST

La présentation a été faite par :

Voici quelques-uns des points saillants de cette présentation : un aperçu des différents types d’assemblages muraux, un guide sur les exigences en matière d’isolation conformément au CNB et un examen des tableaux et des graphiques utilisés pour valider les performances thermiques.

Le cours a été un auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs les entrepreneurs et les représentants des fabricants.

The chapter held an in-person breakfast seminar on: ‘Build Better Wall Assemblies – presented by SOPREMA’. The seminar took place at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre, Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 – 09h00-10h30 EST.

The presentation was done by:

This presentation Highlights included: an overview of different types of wall assemblies, a guide to insulation requirements as per NECB, and a review of tables and charts used to validate thermal performances.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers, contractors, and manufacturer representatives.

National Roofing Week 2023

CRCA Announces fourth annual National Roofing Week in Canada

The Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) is excited to announce that Canada’s fourth annual National Roofing Week celebration will take place nationwide from June 5 to 9, 2023. We look forward to your participation and to encourage you – we will be sending each CRCA member a Roofing Week kit with complete details, suggestions and instructions on how to join our celebration. But you don’t have to be a member to celebrate Roofing Week; we encourage everyone involved in the roofing industry to join the celebration.
This initiative of the CRCA, and our provincial affiliate roofing associations from coast to coast, aims to raise awareness of the importance of “having a roof over your head”, bring awareness to the roofing industry and the important work that CRCA members perform year-round. CRCA and the National Roofing Contractors Association in the USA have joined their celebrations to create a true North American Roofing Week!
Throughout this week, our roofing contractors/members will highlight through various actions and initiatives, the importance of roofers in Canadian society, whether for job creation, continuing education, or involvement in the community.

Cours sur l’assurance de qualité des enveloppes de bâtiments / Building Enclosure Quality Assurance Course

Le chapitre a présenté le cours sur l’assurance de qualité des enveloppes de bâtiments sur 2 demi-journées, le 26 & 27 avril, 2023. Les instructeurs étaient :

  • Stephen Baxter, RRC, RRO, Baxter Roof Consulting Ltd.
  • Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd

L’assurance qualité des enceintes de bâtiment est un cours de huit heures destinées aux professionnels intéressés par les inspections sur le terrain et la qualité des applications, y compris les fabricants de matériaux, les entrepreneurs généraux, les observateurs en assurance qualité et les inspecteurs sur le terrain. Ce cours couvre les aspects divers et difficiles de la toiture, de l’imperméabilisation et des murs extérieurs rencontrés sur le chantier.

Le cours a été un auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs et gestionnaires d’installations. Environ 25 participants étaient présents.

This course covers the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls encountered in the field.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and facility managers. Approximately 25 attendees where present.
