Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que le Chapitre Québec Ontario d’IIBEC a, une fois de plus, obtenu un prix Argent dans le cadre du programme de Prix des chapitres exceptionnels 2022 de l’IIBEC. Un grand merci aux efforts des membres du conseil d’administration 2022 ; Stephanie Robinson, Michel Paulin, Troy Ferreira, Guillaume Castonguay, Sébastien Joly, Michel Desgranges & Jean-Loup Yale.

Nous remercions également tout particulièrement le personnel de soutien de l’IIBEC
et notre administratrice de chapitre, Christine Kebezes.

À l’avenir, nous anticipons faire croître le conseil d’administration du Chapitre Québec-Ontario et de diversifier l’offre de services à nos membres.

Outstanding Chapter Award Program 2022

We are pleased to announce that the IIBEC Quebec Ontario Chapter has, once again, achieved a Silver Outstanding Chapter Award from IIBEC. Many thanks to the efforts of the 2022 Board members; Stephanie Robinson, Michel Paulin, Troy Ferreira, Guillaume Castonguay, Sebastien Joly, Michel Desgranges & Jean-Loup Yale.

A special thanks also goes out to the IIBEC support staff and our chapter administrator Christine Kebezes. 

Moving ahead, we are looking forward to growing both the Quebec Ontario Chapter Board and diversifying the service offerings to our membership.

Le chapitre a présenté le cours de conseil professionnels en bâtiment sur 4 demi-journées, le 9, 10, 16 & 17 novembre 2022. Les instructeurs étaient :

• Gary Hamilton, P.Eng., RRC, RRO, Senior Engineer at Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd
• Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd

Cela a été présenté sur des sessions de 4 demi-journées et est la première composante d’une série en deux-parties couvrant en détail, les aspects de la technologie et de la science de la toiture. Le cours a couvert l’histoire et l’évolution de la toiture jusqu’aux applications courantes actuelles. Le cours comprenait des informations terminologiques et techniques concernant les terrasses et les structures de toit, l’isolation du toit, les membranes de bitume modifié, les membranes multicouche et les solins métalliques,.Une compréhension de la théorie du transfert de chaleur, de l’humidité, de la conception thermique et du calcul des facteurs U a également été présentée.

Le cours a été un auprès d’un public de consultants / ingénieurs et gestionnaires d’installations.

The chapter presented the Roof Technology and Science I course over 4 half-days on November 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th 2022. The instructors were:

• Edward (Ted) Sheridan, P.Eng., RRC, RWC REWC, RBEC – President of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd

This was presented over 4-half day sessions and is the first component of a two-part series covering, in detail, aspects of the technology and science of roofing. The course covered the history and evolution of roofing up to present-day common applications. The course featured terminology and technical information regarding roof decks and structures, roof insulation, bitumen membranes, built-up and modified-bitumen membranes, and flashing systems. An understanding of heat transfer theory, moisture, thermal design, and the calculation of U-factors was also be presented.

The course was a success with an audience of consultant/engineers and facility managers.

Le chapitre y a tenu le tout premier petit-déjeuner-séminaire en personne sur: « Un aperçu de la mise en service des enveloppes du bâtiments (BECx) ». Le séminaire a eu lieu au Centre de conférences et d’événements d’Ottawa, Mardi, le 1er novembre 2022 – 09h30-10h30 EST

Le séminaire a été présenté par :

• Michael Barrington, ing., P.E.,BECxP – Directeur et principal chez Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd., une firme d’ingénierie basée à Ottawa.

Cette présentation a expliqué la valeur du processus de mise en service des enveloppes du bâtiments pour les propriétaires et les gestionnaires d’immeubles et a fourni un aperçu des lignes directrices et des normes du processus.

The chapter held there very first in-person breakfast seminar on: ‘An overview of Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx)’. The seminar took place at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre, Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 – 09h30-10h30 EST.

The seminar was presented by:

• Michael Barrington, P.Eng., P.E., BECxP – Principal and Director at Fishburn Sheridan & Associates Ltd., an Ottawa based engineering firm.

This presentation explained the value of the building enclosure commissioning process to building owners and managers and provided an outline of the process guidelines and standards.

Le Chapitre Québec Ontario (CQO) d’IIBEC a tenu sa toute première assemblée générale annuelle virtuellement le 24 février 2022, un total de 13 membres étaient présents.

L’événement a commencé par un message d’ouverture de la présidente actuelle de la section, Stephanie Robinson, qui comprenait une présentation du conseil d’administration 2021 et un résumé des événements tenus au cours de la première année d’opération du chapitre. Stephanie a souligné une campagne d’adhésion en cours qui comprend la sensibilisation des membres actuels sous le Chapitre Sud Ontario d’IIBEC, mais qui sont situés dans la géographie du CQO pour les encourager à se joindre à nous.

Guillaume Castonguay, trésorier actuel de la section, a passé en revue les états financiers de 2021 et le budget 2022 proposé.

Il a été annoncé que le Chapitre Québec Ontario d’IIBEC a remporté un prix Argent, dans le cadre du programme de Prix des chapitres exceptionnels 2021 d’IIBEC, qui sera présenté au congrès national de cette année.

Jennifer Hogan, directrice de la région VII, a présenté les activités de l’administration centrale d’IIBEC et leurs liens avec notre région, y compris les tendances des membres d’IIBEC et un résumé des activités de la Fondation RCI Canada au cours de la dernière année.

Brian Pallasch, pdg et vice-président exécutif d’IIBEC, ainsi que Edward (Ted) Sheridan, président du comité exécutif d’IIBEC, ont pris la parole devant les membres et ont discuté des événements à venir et des initiatives en cours au siège social d’IIBEC, y compris la traduction française des documents et des programmes éducatifs d’IIBEC, les possibilités de plaidoyer canadiennes et le prochain congrès national.

Michel Paulin, vice-président actuel de la section, a présenté le nouveau conseil d’administration de 2022 qui a été nommé par une élection virtuelle avant l’AGA. Le conseil d’administration 2022 est :

The IIBEC Quebec Ontario Chapter (QOC) held its first ever Annual General Meeting virtually on February 24, 2022 with a total of 13 members attending.

The event began with an opening message from current Chapter President, Stephanie Robinson, which included an introduction of the 2021 Board of Directors and a summary of events held in the Chapter’s first operating year. Stephanie highlighted an ongoing membership drive that includes reaching out to current IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter members who are located within the QOC geography to encourage them to join us.

Guillaume Castonguay, current Chapter Treasurer, reviewed the 2021 Financial Statements and the proposed 2022 Budget.

It was announced that the Quebec Ontario Chapter has been granted a Silver Level IIBEC Chapter Award which will be presented at this year’s National Convention.

Jennifer Hogan, Region VII Director, presented on the activities of IIBEC headquarters and how they relate to the region, including IIBEC membership trends and a summary of activities of the RCI Foundation Canada over the past year.

Brian Pallasch, IIBEC CEO and EVP, and Edward (Ted) Sheridan, IIBEC Executive Committee President, addressed the Chapter and discussed upcoming events and ongoing initiatives by IIBEC headquarters, including French translation of IIBEC documents and educational programs, Canadian advocacy opportunities, and the upcoming National Convention.

Michel Paulin, current Chapter Vice-President, presented the new 2022 Board of Directors who were appointed through a virtual election prior to the AGM. The 2022 Board of Directors is:
